Research Center for Topological Graph Theory
A comprehensive study of topological graph theory
There is a mathematical model known as a "graph" that expresses the connections between objects, and the mathematical discipline that describes such combinatorial structures is called "graph theory." This field forms the foundation of computer science and, in recent years, has been increasingly recognized as a branch of mathematics that connects richly with various other disciplines. In particular, "topological graph theory," which studies the combinatorial and geometric structures of graphs drawn on closed surfaces without edge crossings, is closely related to modern graph theory research, including graph minor theory, and is recognized as an important research field. This research center aims to contribute to the development of this field as a whole and to its impact on various related disciplines through research in topological graph theory, with our institution serving as the central hub.
