Research Center for Social Intelligence Leading Interactive and Collaborative Learning

An Interdisciplinary Humanities–Sciences Study on the Analysis and Design of Dialogic and Collaborative Learning Environments for Fostering Social Intelligence
This research center aims to create artificial social intelligence (ASI) that can understand human social intelligence and discover the design principle for the place of interactive and collaborative learning. Social intelligence refers to an essential competence to understand others’ behaviors, emotions, and the intention behind them, and to collaborate and build relationships with others in our society. Focusing on the social interactions among students and teachers, this study tries to create and exploit the ASI to quantitatively analyze the interactions and aims to develop educational methods optimized for individual students, based on the ASI's analysis. This research center also aims to explore the potential of interdisciplinary collaboration between computer scientists and educational psychologists, by connecting two problems building ASI and designing education for nurturing human social intelligence.
