Research Center for Boundary Spanner Design of Diversity in Healthy Longevity Society
Community-based research on the fusion of the humanities and sciences aimed at creating a city where people never fall
Though the falling accident of the elderly is a significant problem in the current society, the drastic solution does not exist yet. In this basis, concrete measures and problems for social implementation of the advanced technology for lowering fall risk are not clarified. In addition, there is a lack of continuity to environmental designs such as living environment, urban environment and education, clinical field for the technology utilization, and social design for accepting the advanced technology. Then, we research the mechanism of social implementation of technology for lowering and assessing risk of fall as a model case here, with the cross-disciplinary research team of engineering, urban science, and management science. The center focuses the realization of new research field named as “Boundary Spanner Design” for healthy longevity society. By this, the research which comprehensively evaluates the effect of this technology on living environment, urban environment and society and the social implementation research which uses the human support technology for realization of a “Age-Friendly Cities” are developed.
